Cooking and The Cure

My workplace is having a pot-luck Thanksgiving dinner next week (as opposed to our usual catered one) and I signed up for the cranberries. Now I do make a good cranberry sauce (lots of orange zest) but in the Whole Foods newsletter they had an interesting recipe using 1 cup chardonnay, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/2 t ground ginger and 1/2 t ground nutmeg, and 1 t orange zest (I used what I had). While it's not bad it just doesn't taste like cranberry sauce! I'm glad I made it ahead of time to try it out; it's back to the old standard.Update as of 11/12- it's been in the fridge and i'm snacking on it now. It's better than when I first made it. Tastes more of cranberries, just heavily spiced. Maybe with less spices it'll be better?

I also made a big pot of chicken/bean soup (with tortilla chips added at serving) for several meals this week.
And in case any of my three readers didn't know, I joined Apartment Therapy's Cure and am halfway through it. My postings are here: http://ashleys08cure.blogspot.com/
