Such a beautiful day that after my nap on the couch (you've got to love lazy Sundays!) I went for a walk up and down a few streets.
Here's the conversation I ended up having with a little (maybe 3 or 4 year old?) boy:
Boy playing by himself on his front door step, door open: What are you doing? Going for a walk?
Me: Yup. It's a nice day.
Boy: Yes it is. This is my house.
Me: Nice. Mine is on the next street.
Boy: Oh. But *this* is my house. Do you see my umbrella? (Between him and the door).
Me: Yup.
Boy: Do you want to come to my house tomorrow?
Me: We'll see.
The street just west of mine- not very friendly.
The street farther west- a little friendlier but more quiet.
The street east- much friendlier. Two separate houses had a bunch of people socializing in the front.
My street- pretty friendly. All people out said hello. One house (the house that is ALWAYS grilling something delicious smelling) was having people over, grilling. Must make friends with them ; )
It seems every third house is growing roses. Saw a large agave plant and it had what looked like a giant asparagus stalk growing out of it! Never seen that before. Also saw a plant I want to grow- has what looks like large fluffy red caterpillars growing at the ends. (Anyone know what that is called?)
It sounds like a chenille plant. They're so cool aren't they! Here's a link: http://www.floridata.com/ref/A/acal_his.cfm
ReplyDeleteWould love to see those in person! But no, they're shorter thicker blooms, more like the Weeping Bottlebrush http://www.floridata.com/ref/C/call_vim.cfm
ReplyDeleteWill go for a walk with camera next time and take a picture!
